GeoDry and PureFuels

PureFuels / GeoDry Filters & Separators

P PureFuels’ leading technology of filtration is engineered for Life Support / Mission Critical Applications for low sulfur diesel, biodiesel blends and light oils to ISO 4406 12/9/6 standards. PureFuels patented particulate filter exceeds flow rates greater than 400 GPM

G GeoDry leading technology is the only approved Filter Separator to exceed 4 GPM with certified SAE J1488_2010 results. GeoDry is SAE J1488_2010 certified at 15 GPM for the removal of free and emulsified water in a single pass. Mission Critical Applications require SAE J1488_2010 certifications.

Water Removal Efficiency Testing per SAE J1488

SAE J1488 is a performance test for the effectiveness of fuel/water separators in removing emulsified water from fuels. Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) is circulated in the stand in a single pass flow loop
while de-ionized water is injected upstream of the circulation pump to create the emulsion. Water content in the fuel is recorded upstream and downstream of the fuel/water separator throughout the test to determine the water removal efficiency.

It should be noted that the SAE J1488 OCT2010 standard Foreword states the following, “The procedure is well suited to lower flow rates, although it may be applied with due caution to flow rates up to 100 lpm (26.4 gpm) using parallel emulsion generating circuits.”
Additionally, in section 3.16, under Test Apparatus, the standard states, “For testing at flow rates greater than 26.4 lpm (6.6 gpm) it is required that separate emulsion generating circuits(s) with a common sump be connected in parallel to generate the emulsions
for the test circuit.”

It should be noted that SAE J1488 tests are often performed and reported below 6.6 gpm, due to apparatus constraints.

The Fluid Care Center (FCC) uses a test stand designed to appropriately model the SAE J1488 OCT2010 standard, as well as to exceed the 100 lpm maximum recommendation, allowing testing and reporting at higher flow rates. Evaluating the water removal efficiency at flow rates corresponding to a variety of practical applications.
